✔  The Department of Respiratory Medicine at Government Medical College, Ariyalur, provides comprehensive clinical services, diagnostic facilities, and academic training for MBBS students. The department manages both tuberculosis and non-tuberculosis respiratory diseases and actively participates in national programs, including the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP).

  • 20-bedded ward (10 beds for TB cases and 10 beds for non-TB cases such as asthma, COPD, pneumonia, and ILD).
  • BiPAP and CPAP facilities.
  • Oxygen concentrator machines.
  • Demonstration hall for student teaching.
  • Attached NTEP laboratory equipped for CBNAAT and TRUENAT testing.
  • Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) laboratory with a trained technician (Mr. Mani) performing spirometry.

✔  One of our ICMR–STS 2025 projects has been successfully accepted: “Assessment of the Prevalence of Latent Tuberculosis Infection in Hemodialysis Patients Using the Novel C-Tb Skin Test in a CKDu-Endemic Tertiary Care Centre in South India.”

✔  This project is undertaken by Mr. Hariharan (3rd-year MBBS student) under the guidance of Dr. P. Rajaraman, Assistant Professor, Department of Respiratory Medicine.
