The Department of Pharmacology is located in the fourth floor of Faculty block building. Our department offers training for 150 undergraduate Phase 2 MBBS students as per competency based medical education curriculum.

As per new curriculum, all students gain holistic knowledge in all the aspects of pharmacology like pharmacokinetics, Pharmacodynamics, clinical pharmacology, therapeutics, adverse drug reactions and inculcate the rational and scientific basis of therapeutics.

Also gains skills in all aspects of clinical pharmacy & clinical pharmacology and experimental pharmacology by using many simulation based learning and hands on training

As much neglected part Attitude, Ethics & communication has been covered through AETCOM classes

The Department of pharmacology also function as Adverse Drug Reaction Monitoring centre (ADR monitoring centre) under the Pharmacovigilance program of India and also involves in Institutional Ethical committee activities.

TEACHING PROGRAM

  • Undergraduate courses include MBBS, Diploma in Anaesthesia and Emergency care technician.
  • For MBBS students we encompasses on teaching basic Pharmacology and its clinical applications and rational uses of drugs and AETCOM by various methods like Lecture, Small group discussion, Seminar, Quiz, Roll play ,OSPE and integrated classes through collaboration with other Departments
  • We have well equipped Computer assisted learning lab with internet facilities to teach the animal experiments for MBBS students
  • As a ADR monitoring centre , we indulge in Collecting ADR reports, conducting Causality assessment meeting and reporting of ADRs to PVPI through Vigiflow software every month
  • We are giving hands on training on ADR reporting to MBBS students of elective posting, CRMIs and staff nurses.
  • We are regularly celebrating PHARMACOVIGILANCE week every year during the month of September by conducting various competitions to undergraduate students, Conducting CME program and creating awareness to Doctors, CRMIs, staff nurses and public regarding reporting of Adverse drug reactions
  • Apart from that we are Periodically conducting IEC meetings and giving approval for research projects and follow up of the same
  • We are training the MD pharmacology post graduate students from various colleges through District Residency program.
