✔  The Department of Pediatrics is housed in the CEMONC complex of the Old GH campus. The wide spectrum of patients—from healthy newborns and preterm babies to critically ill children—provides students with an excellent opportunity to learn and serve. The department’s daily outpatient attendance averages around 100 to 150 cases.

✔  It runs several specialized clinics, including the Pediatric OPD, Well-Baby Clinic, Immunization Clinic, NICU Follow-up Clinic, Fever Clinic, DEIC-RBSK Clinic, Adolescent Clinic, and Child Guidance Clinic. The Neonatal ICU has 10 beds offering Level 3 care, and the Pediatric ICU (PICU) also has 10 beds; both units are adequately equipped with ventilators, CPAP, and HFNC facilities. The Fully equipped District Early Intervention Centre (DEIC) attached to the department plays a crucial role in running child developmental assessment clinic, providing speech therapy, physiotherapy, counselling services, dental services, etc.

✔  The department conducts regular teaching programs for MBBS undergraduates and interns in DR programs. It remains committed to improving child health care and ensuring high-quality teaching in accordance with NMC regulations, along with fostering continuous research.

Infrastructure +

The Department of Pediatrics has adequate infrastructure, including a seminar hall, a clinical demonstration room, and audiovisual system to support student learning. The department is equipped with all essential medical devices such as radiant warmers, ventilators, CPAP, HFNC systems, defibrilators,multipara monitors, infusion pumps, and bedside X-ray facilities to ensure optimal patient care. In addition, the department is supported by 24×7 laboratory services and a blood storage bank.

Academic+

The department has a regular teaching program for Undergraduates( 150-MBBS students per batch) & DRP’S ( Distict Residency PG Intern’s ). Assignments and formative assessments are given as per the university regulations. The department uses latest technology for high quality teaching to students.

Department administration

The department functions with three pediatric units, pediatric intensive care unit , HDU and Neonatal intensive care unit with level 3 care ( extramural and intramural) , level 2 and level 1 care under Directorate of medical education and research from March 2021.
