The Department of Orthopaedics is dedicated to the surgical treatment of a wide range of orthopaedic conditions. It comprises three general units . These units work closely together to provide comprehensive care to patients. The department is currently staffed by 1 professors, 1 associate professor, 3 assistant professors, 3 senior residents,5 junior residents . Each year, we perform approximately *5000- 5,500 surgical procedures, including to *2,000 day care Procedures. Outpatient clinics are held from Monday to Saturday, and emergency care is available around the clock on all days in the Emergency Services. Our core priorities are dedicated patient care, clinical teaching, and advancing research.

Ward

Male and female wards with treatment rooms and duty resident rooms.2 Demonstration rooms for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.

Seminar Hall

Air conditioned and sound proof, with a seating capacity of 100, equipped with LCD projector and desktop.

Department Library

150 Square feet with seating capacity of 20 students at a time. It has 80 books and various national and international journals.

Operation Theatre

Spacious operation theatres with modern fracture table and accessory attachments. C-Arm State of the staler Arthroscopy set.

Museum

Museum. 150 square feet museum showcasing history of Orthopaedics with photographs & models.

Objectives In Brief| +

Mental Health Outpatient and Inpatient Services (including Diagnosis and Treatment) of patients with psychiatric disorders (PWMI), to the population of Ariyalur district, and nearby taluks of Lalgudi, Thittakkudi, Sethiatthoppu, Kattumannaarkoil, Kunnam and Thiruvaiyaaru of neighbouring districts.

Trauma and Emergency Care:

The department operates a dedicated Level-I trauma center to manage accidents and emergencies. This facility provides prompt and effective treatment for patients with polytrauma, fractures, dislocations, and other musculoskeletal injuries. The trauma center is supported by an efficient Intensive Care Unit (ICU), anaesthetists, and Trauma Surgeons We also serve as a referral center for managing complications following trauma, such as infections, non-unions, and deformities.

Joint Replacement:

We perform hip, knee replacement surgeries with high success rates. The department handles complex deformities and attracting referrals from across the district. Our surgeons use the latest technology and techniques to minimize post-operative complications and ensure rapid recovery.

Spinal Surgery:

Our spinal surgery services include treatments for disc herniation, spinal fractures, and degenerative conditions. These surgeries are carried out by orthopaedic department to ensuring comprehensive care for a wide range of spinal disorders.

Sports Medicine

The department specializes in the treatment of sports-related injuries, such as ligament and meniscal tears, cartilage injuries, rotator cuff tears, and dislocations. We also offer rehabilitation services to support recovery.

Orthopaedic Oncology:

The department provides specialized care for bone tumors, both benign and malignant. This includes surgical excision, reconstruction, and post-operative care.

Foot and Ankle:

The department provids management of both congenital and acquired deformities, such as flat feet, bunions, and hammer toes, as well as pathologies of the tendons and sports injuries around the foot and ankle. We also specialize in options offering relief from degenerative arthritis, including fusions of the ankle.

Hand Surgery, Spine Surgery and Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgery:

In addition to the core orthopaedic services, the institution also offers specialized hand surgery and paediatric orthopaedic and spine surgery services. These subspecialties complement the work done in the main orthopaedic department, providing expert care for conditions related to the spine, hand and musculoskeletal disorders in children
