✔  Our department started functioning in the year 2021 when this institution was established . The department is run by Professor, Associate Professors,Assistant professors, Senior Residents, Junior Residents and paramedical staffs , treating various medical disorders.

✔  We treat cases like diabetes , hypertension,coronary artery disease,stroke, seizure disorder,chronic kidney disease,obstructive airway disorders ,diarrheal disorders,poisoning management and various infectious diseases in our outpatient department and as inpatients. We get an average OP Census of about 350-400Cases / day and an average IP census 50-60 cases/day.

✔  We do various diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in our departments for the benefit of our patients , which keeps us in par with the current standards of care enchancing the scope of our Medical Services .

✔  We conduct periodic lecture classes(both clinical and theory) Seminars, Symposium ,Self directed learning ,Small group discussions and Internal assessment tests for undergraduate students as per NMC guidelines.

✔  In addition ,we do various Investigatory procedures like diagnostic and therapeutic paracentesis ,diagnostic thoracocentesis,lumbar pucture,bone marrow aspiration.

✔  Also we do thrombolysis for acute ischemic stroke and acute myocardial infarction for the benefit for our patients.

✔  The Department of Medicine is the first point of contact for patients seeking medical care in the hospital. There are five units in the department, which provides daily outpatient services, specialty clinics, and manages ≥ 75% acutely sick patients in emergency services. The outpatient department runs on all week days while specialty clinics on Hematology, Geriatrics, HIV/AIDS and Master health Checkup are held once a week. The bed strength in the department is 150 for general wards, 10 beds in the Intensive Medical Care Unit (IMCU), and 10 beds in the Intensive Coronary Care Unit (ICCU).

✔  The Nephrology unit functioning with 8 dialysis machines offers haemodialysis free of cost. Moreover, separate dialysis machines are available for patients with Hepatitis B and C. The Cardiology unit is equipped with echocardiography and is managed by a highly qualified Cardiologist. The department takes pride in the implementation of various state and national health programs like NVHCP, PMNDP, SCRIPT, STEMI & Toxicology pillars of TAEI services.

✔  A well-structured teaching program for Undergraduates (UG) is the strength of the department, The 150 Undergraduates who enter the clinical side every year from the third semester onwards are rotated in various units for system based learning, to develop sound communication skills and ability to manage common medical disorders apart from theory classes. Emphasis is laid on practice of evidence-based medicine through seminars, topic reviews, and presentations in the journal club. The faculty are enabled to have research focus on locally prevalent conditions with the aim to improve patient outcomes.
