DERMATOLOGY, VENEREOLOGY AND LEPROSY

✔ Our department started functioning in the year 2021 when this institution was established . The department is run by a Chief Assistant professor, Senior Resident , Junior Resident and an STI counselor , treating various Cutaneous disorders and Sexually transmitted Infections.

✔ We treat cases like Psoriasis, Lichen planus, Immune Bullous disorder, Erythroderma,Contact dermatitis, Eczema, Fungal , Bacterial and Viral Skin infections,Scabies,Adverse drug reactions ,Hair and Nail disorders in our outpatient department and as Inpatients. OPD cases We get an average OP Census of about 2500-2800 Cases /month and an average IP census (bed occupancy ) of about 15 -20 cases/day.

✔ We do various cosmetic and therapeutic procedures in our departments for the benefit of our patients , which keeps us in par with the current standards of care enchancing the scope of our Dermatology Services .

✔ We conduct periodic lecture classes(both clinical and theory) Seminars, Symposium ,Self directed learning ,Small group discussions and Internal assessment tests for undergraduate students .

✔ In addition ,we do various Investigatory procedures like Microscopic demonstration of fungal elements, Tzanck smear for Multinucleated giant cells /Acantholytic cells, Slit skin smear for lepra bacilli, Wet mount ,Gram stain and Scabies mite demonstration ,for various skin disorders and STIs.

✔ Also we treat by Pulse therapies including Dexamethasone pulse therapy, DCP therapy, Methylprednisolone pulse therapy for the benefit for our patients.

✔ Daily op of 80 to 100 patients.

✔ In-patient care of patients with separate ward for dermatology of 20 bed capacity.

Electrocautery, electrofulgularation, excision biopsy, diagnostic biopsies carried out on regular basis.

✔ Detection of Hansen’s cases, treatment and follow-up.

✔ Detection, treatment, partner treatment of various STI Cases.

Slit skin smear for demonstration of lepra bacilli
Gram stain for Bacterial skin infections, Urethral discharge, Vaginal discharge
Tzanck smear for demonstration of Acantholytic cells,Multinucleated giant cells .
Wet mount for Trichomonas vaginals
KOH smear for demonstration of fungal elements in Pityriasis Versicolor ,Tinea corporis,Candidiasis and Mycetoma
Examination of Scabies mite,pediculosis mite under microscopy
