Blood Centre was
started in 15th june 2015 at old Government Headquarters hospital, Ariyalur.
Initially collected and issued only whole blood to patients. In june 2022,
Component separation of whole blood was started and patients were given
blood components like Packed Rbcs, Platelet concentrates and Fresh frozen
plasma separately.
We have equipped with all required equipments for Blood component Separation Unit(BCSU). Adequate numbers of Staff are present as per NMC norms.

We issue blood to the poor and needy people in the hospital premises and
throughout the district. Following institutions are attached with our blood
centre.
DME: Medical College: Govt. Ariyalur Medical College Hospital. DMS: Three Government Hospitals PHC: Six Block PHCs.
We are conducting blood donation camp and awareness programme with the help of all service organization in and around Ariyalur. Blood donors are encouraged to donate blood from morning to evening. Our blood collection room is air-conditioned and has adequate facilities to collect requisite amount of blood and to prevent donor adverse reactions. Pre-donation counseling and post-donation counseling given to the Voluntary blood donors in our blood centre. All blood donors are given refreshments and thanked with appreciation certificates.
Blood Grouping and Rh Typing Cross matching / Compatibility testing Direct and Indirect Coombs test Screening for Transfusion transmitted diseases Those who are found to be positive by screening method are being referred to concerned higher specialties for further management.
